Good news!

I got some really good news today. Which makes me super excited for the following events. I have to be up bright and early for an advisory board meeting at Baker College tomorrow then its off to Future Midwest tomorrow and Friday. Then I'm headed to Ann Arbor Monday for my first day at Ingenex Digital Marketing for my internship. I am really looking forward to this summer. Hooray for being busy and working hard. I can't wait <3

Opening Day!

I was lucky enough to spend my opening day downtown at Coaches Corner tending bar. As before it was crazy busy but a lot of fun. I ended up meeting a lot of really cool people and had a blast with my customers. I got to see a couple old friends as well which is always nice. At the end of the night I was beat and could hardly move because my body was so sore, but I was really surprised at how much energy and enthusiasm I still had serving my customers. After 15 hours, I was ready for a massage and a hot tub. Sometimes, I don't know how I make it through the day, but in the end I love feeling accomplished. There's something amazing about the drive one can have to achieve the things that make you happy in life. Sure, it's not all gumdrops and lollipops, but you make it work. Hey, it could always be worse, right?

New opportunity

Sooo...I got a reply to set up an interview for an internship at Ingenex Digital Marketing!
Look out digital world, here I come! This is my chance to show everyone what I'm made of and learn as much as I possibly can! I'm going to study my butt off! I'm really excited.

Customer Service

I just saw a commercial for Comcast that focuses on the customer. It seems that every company out there is centered around the customer which I think is the most important. As a consumer, it doesn't matter so much as why a mistake was made or who made it, as long as in the long run, they focus on my needs. I will not name names, for a couple reasons #1 is I believe in giving companies a second chance. and #2 I believe that sometimes bad experiences happen, its how the company makes it up to you that really matters, but I've had a few experiences where something didn't go as planned. Ok, not a big deal, stuff happens, and I am flexible and understanding in that aspect. What I do not like is when employees or even managers start placing blame. I'm not looking to blame anyone in why things didn't go as promised, what's important is what they will do to fix it and make things right. Plus, it's unprofessional and alienates the staff away from being a team. Work together and don't throw teammates under the bus!

My point: stick to focusing on the customer and really follow through. Little things mean the most and sometimes just showing consumers that you appreciate them will result in the best word of mouth money can buy! 

I have my final interview for Verizon's Customer Service position tomorrow morning. I am working on studying questions and such and I do feel pretty well prepared. I just get so nervous that everything I work on goes out the window. But on my last interview, Keri did say that I answered one of my questions the best she's ever heard, so that gave me some really good positive feedback and allowed me to relax a bit. I think I am just my worst critique, and I am too hard on myself. I know this stuff, its stuff I do everyday. I will do great tomorrow, I got this!

Last night Amanda and I went to Kristin's Tupperware party. It was my first time going to a Tupperware party and overall I enjoyed myself. I really love the products and think it's great how they make everyday preparation and cooking easy and more efficient. And of course I agreed to have my own party in February which I am super excited about. I can't wait to get free stuff!

Today, Amanda was also nice enough to accompany me to the Art Institute of Michigan's open house. Ever since I was little, I was interested in cooking and loved learning all about it. I grew up watching Urban Peasant and Julia Child on TV. I would even have my own cooking shows in my kitchen when mom wasn't looking. I was really impressed with the look of the campus, the kitchens, and the enthusiasm of the faculty and the overall atmosphere of the college. We got to check out the student run restaurant and the international classes they offer.  I definitely got the impression that the college was willing to help students with everything from explaining and applying for financial aid, to finding grants and scholarships, to assisting students with finding the right program to suit their needs, to giving students the resources to achieve their dreams. Your first day of class, you get started right in the kitchen cooking, doing all the hands on stuff first. Then after that, you worry about working on your general requirements, which I like. I am looking forward to my one on one meeting to sort out all the details and get started on my application and financial aid. I am excited that I am taking something I am interested in and something that I think comes natural to me, and incorporating that into my professional life. I am exceptionally excited to learn about the management and marketing aspect of the culinary world!

Gotta Start Somewhere!

Wednesday night Amanda and I attended 313 Digital's Auto Show VIP party at Via Nove in Ferndale.  It was a lot of fun. There were friendly faces, amazing food, and good drinks. I've never been to Via Nove before and I was really impressed with the classy look of the restaurant, staff, and overall atmosphere. I look forward to attending more events for 313 Digital, meeting new faces, and learning more about the digital world of marketing! Ferndale is awesome and I really like the downtown area. Mental note: See what the city has to offer and check out events and local businesses.
